Hey all, I was looking at hello fresh. I don't know that I'd do a subscription because it's pricey, but I wanted to know if anyone else has tried it? It looks like a good option for people stuck in a rut, and it's awesome in the fact that it delivers the ingrediance, and everything is whole foods, and premeasured. I know for me I might go online and look up a recipy to find I have everything but 2 things that are needed to make it work, and there is no grocery store in walking distance, and if you think I'm cabbing it to a store since transet doesn't go locally really I'd need to transfer down town... you get the picture. So something like this almost looks ideal, but the price tag makes me wonder about people that have used it. I'd trust reviews on the website, but they're all raves, and people get paid to do this... so tell me if you used it. Was it a waist of money?
What is it? Please do tell..
Matt. It's a service that delivers food to your home. It's raw ingrediance already premeasured, but grown responsibly. They come with the recipy written out, and they make the measurements for either 3 meals a week for 2 people or 3 meals a week for 4 people. They offer an option for herbavores or omnavores. The reviews sound good, a lot of veriety, healthy choices and the like, but it's all reviews on their website so I'm likely to think the bad reviews don't make it up there. lol.
interesting. I've never heard of this. It seems kind of cool though, to me. I can get to the store rather easily by taking a couple of buses, so I wouldn't use it, but still. it's neat to know that it's out there.
I should tell my family about it. I don't need it, and can't afford it. But, Grandpa's ill, and if she can, I bet my Grandma would love something like that. Don't want to show her, unless we can find the truth. She's pretty worn out, to be an experiment. Wonder if someone else will try.
Blessings,
Hot Wheels
looks like we will have to try it once and poast lol
It's a truly awesome idea. I'd use it if I didn't have time to shop.
Look around before trying it. There are a lot of these type things popping up. I know of
at least 4 that I can't remember now that I started typing this but they do exist and
may be cheaper.
If the recipie comes written out..in print only or is there another way to read the thing? and, how to know what ingreedents are what?
Hmm. They do serve my area, but I would screw up even a recipe. I was talking to a cab driver about how Peapod, which is the grocery service we have here, lacks the amount of stuff it has when compared to before I left New York and used it 18 months prior. His suggestion was to try Hello Fresh, and he said they were good, but I'm not sure how accessible their website is, and I had arrived to work by then, so didn't get to get in to details about it.
hello fresh is a good idea , but my favorite bird says cheap cheap cheap. if I'm going to have to look up a recipe on line and cook it with a bunch of ingredients in packaging that I'm not sure what it is, i'll go on allrecipes.com and get a real recipe that will feed morefor less. A dear friend of mine has used it and her impressions are. it's awfully expensive and the website is not easily accessible. blue apron is cheaper and the recipes are easier to locate and copy.
for the person who commented about peapod not having what they thought they got in new York, it's important to remember that this company uses local grocery stores to bring the food to us. in Washington d.c., they use giant. so they get stuff from their warehouses. so if giant doesn't carry what the store in nyc has, then you are out of luck
